Welcome to the FACE Adult Education page! My name is Teresa Shoemaker and I have been the Adult Education teacher with the FACE program for five years. I work with the adults in our program on their educational and family goals.
Each day we spend about an hour with the children during PACT (Parent and Child Together) Time, an hour together for Parent Time and then the rest of the day in large group, small group, or independent study towards educational goals.
I enjoy getting to know and work with all the adults who come to the program.
I am a former Family and Consumer Science teacher. I am married and my husband and I live in Webster. I have two grown children, four grandchildren, three step-sons and five step-grandchildren. Family is very important to me – that is why I especially enjoy working with families in the FACE program. I invite you to stop by the school or call me if you would like more information about how the FACE program can help strengthen your family.
The
Enemy Swim Adult Education Center provides a relaxed atmosphere in our new school for
adults to work on their education goals.

An up-to-date computer lab with internet access is equipped with software for Employability skills training, GED preparation, computer training, keyboarding and more.
Adults can work at their own pace. The FACE Program works closely with the Sisseton-Wahpeton Employment Training program at our school. Besides the computer lab, the center also has a classroom and lounge area with coffee and snacks provided.

Daily Parent Time provides an
opportunity for parents to learn about their child's development
and to discuss family issues in a supportive environment.
Discussion may include information, new ideas or skills in the areas
of child discipline, child development, health and
nutrition, budgeting, first aid/CPR, safety issues, nurturing children
and the family, the Dakotah culture and more. Resources are
also available for projects such as scrapbooking, photography,
publishing, beading, RealeBooks, and sewing.
PACT Time is part of the daily schedule for the parents and
children who
attend the center. PACT time is held
in the Early Childhood or Elementary classrooms. Parents increase their
awareness of how their children learn by playing, working and learning with
their children. PACT time also gives parents tools and techniques to support
children's learning in the home.
